Town of Mount Pleasant 2016 - 2020 Strategic Plan

Below are the objectives from the Town of Mount Pleasant's Strategic Plan. These objectives outline the specific steps Mount Pleasant will take to accomplish the strategic goal.

What Is HRIS?

A Human Resource Information System (HRIS) is a single cloud based application for Human Resources, Payroll, Workforce Management (time and attendance) and Talent Management (recruitment) which yields tremendous benefits and rapid return on investment for companies.

Currently the Town utilizes two different software systems to manage time and attendance, and process payroll. Additionally, there are many functions such as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) reporting, position control, Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), auditing, benefits management tools and robust reporting of every field that Human Resources currently accomplishes without adequate technology. An HRIS allows for tracking of education, training, certifications, beneficiaries, accidents, leave of absences, and all the functions HR requires. A new employee self-service portal will offer employees the ability to perform functions online themselves rather than relying on other staff members.

An HRIS improves efficiencies and accuracy by providing a single point of data entry, thereby reducing redundancy and human error. Moving to an electronic workflow will reduce paper consumption significantly. An HRIS system will provide substantial cost savings and data integrity.

In short, implementation of an integrated system that seamlessly incorporates the entire life cycle of an employee from application to termination is required to meet the demands of government reporting.
